Christopher holds qualifications in computing, engineering and law. He is an accredited mediator, chartered arbitrator, chartered engineer, chartered information technology professional, professor (adjunct) and a barrister-at-law.

Christopher is a recognised authority on alternative dispute resolution techniques and has represented clients in arbitrations (in Hong Kong and overseas), adjudications (in Hong Kong and overseas), mediations (in Hong Kong and overseas), commission on inquiry and court litigation. He frequently acts as a neutral in Hong Kong and overseas and is a sought-after speaker/moderator at international forums.

Arbitration Experience

He has handled a variety of international cases to date involving both ad hoc and institutional arbitrations (such as the AIAC, HKIAC, ICC, KCAB, CIETAC, LMAA, NMAC, SIAC, UNCITRAL, VIAC) as party-appointed arbitrator, as sole arbitrator, and Chairman.

He acted as counsel in international arbitrations under the HKIAC, CIETAC, ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL arbitration rules.

 

Court Experience

He acted as counsel since 2017 in cases at the Magistrate, District, High Court, Court of Appeal and Commission of Inquiry (Construction Works at and near the Hung Hom Station Extension under the Shatin Central link Project – Mass Transit Railway Corporation) in the jurisdiction of Hong Kong as well as disciplinary proceedings (Stock Exchange and Learned Societies).

He was granded rights of audience before the AIFC Court in Kazakhstan.

 

Conciliation and Mediation Experience

He has handled a variety of international and domestic conciliation/mediation cases to date as conciliator/mediator involving Family, Finance, Banking, Building, Construction, Defamation, Engineering, Intellectual Properties, Information Technology, Commodities, Property and Land, Company Formation and Structure, Probate, Employment, Aviation, Insolvency, Environmental law, Banking, Personal Injuries, Sports, Trade and Mining and Resources.

 

Domain Name Management and Dispute Resolution Experience

  • Nominated to be a member of the Nomination Committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in 2008 and the only Asian member of a seven-member international panel currently serving on the Public Interest Commitment Dispute Resolution Procedure of ICANN.
  • Was instrumental in creating the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre, an accredited domain name dispute resolution provider of ICANN with offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Korea, and Malaysia.
  • Established the on-line domain name dispute resolution capabilities of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and drafted their various procedures and rules.
  • Elected by the internet community of Hong Kong to serve as the Chairman and Board member of the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited and Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Company Limited from 2004 to 2008.
  • Handled a variety of domain name dispute resolution cases to-date as sole, presiding, co-panelist and 20 domain name dispute resolution cases as Counsel.
